Trinidad Easter 2014
Easter is a christian festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion on Calvary, as described in the New Testament.
Easter is preceded by Lent, a period of forty days of fasting, prayer and penance. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains the days of the Easter Triduum such as Holy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper, Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus.
Easter is followed by a period of fifty days called Easter season which ends on Pentecost Sunday. In 2014, Palm Sunday is 13 April 2014, Maundy Thursday is 17 April 2014, Good Friday is on 18 April 2014 and Easter Sunday is 20 April 2014.
